Corporate events

Corporate events and staff events

In the heart of Jutland – by the Silkeborg Lakes and adjacent to Denmark’s largest forest – lies the former sanatorium Gl. Skovridergaard, which, with its unpretentious atmosphere, can provide the setting for corporate events and staff events for up to 200 people.

The countryside

The forest and lakes are right on the doorstep, providing unique recreational options for your corporate event, such as canoeing and kayaking or a boat trip to Himmelbjerget on board the world’s oldest paddle steamer “Hjejlen”.

We also offer to customise our popular Gourmet Rally event to a company outing. Gourmet Rally is a different experience in the great outdoors, where a hike is combined with culinary surprises along the way. The event can be customised to the number of people and duration.

We also offer various types of indoor and outdoor team building in cooperation with a number of professional instructors and event agencies.

Restaurants and function rooms

Gl. Skovridergaard is known for its cuisine. We focus on light, energising food – without compromising on the culinary experience.
Both The Garden Room and Kursalen in combination with Restaurant Orangeriet can accommodate up to 200 people. All rooms have private terraces with direct access to the grounds.

Rooms

We have 65 comfortable, quiet rooms at Gl. Skovridergaard, most of which were refurbished in 2015. The last six rooms were refurbished in 2016. Gl. Skovridergaard is a 4-star hotel, and within walking distance of Gl. Skovridergaard is our 3-star sister hotel Vejlsøhus, which has a further 49 rooms.

Historic setting

Gammelgården at Gl. Skovridergaard is the second oldest building in Silkeborg, dating back to 1798. From 1846, the property had the status of a “skovridergård” – a forester’s farm – from which Frederik VII, among others, used to go hunting. From 1903–1978, Gl. Skovridergaard was one of Denmark’s most famous sanatoria. Since 1978, Gl. Skovridergaard has been known as a course and conference centre, first for Venstres Ungdom (VU), the youth wing of the Danish Liberal Party Venstre, later Hærens Konstabel- og Korporalforening (The Danish Army’s Union of enlisted personnel and NCOs) and most recently, Jyske Bank. From 2009, it has been run as a private, independent hotel with restaurants and five-star conference facilities.
